    • LYNCH Garland D. 'Jake' Lynch born 2-20-1920 Winder, Georgia died 11-7-2009 peacefully at his home of over 45 years in Orange Park, Florida. Parents were Garland Dan Lynch and Pearl Mae Willis. Jake was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Bakewell Lynch and is survived by two step sons that he raised Mike Noble of Dothan, Alabama and Mitchel Noble of Santa Monica, California. Additionally he has two grand children who are Michael B. Noble and wife of Nashville, Tennessee and Anne Noble of Huntsville, Alabama. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family. Jake left Winder with his mother, 2 brothers and 2 sisters and settled in North Florida in 1936-37 and learned the electrical trade. He got a job working on the Panama Canal and was working there when WWII broke out. He came back to Jacksonville and enlisted in the Seabees where he was sent to England to build supply dumps and airfields. He landed on the coast of France on D-day where he remained for 3 weeks before he was transferred to the Pacific and the Philippines. He returned to the Jacksonville area in the latter part of 1947 where he worked for various electrical firms. He married Ruth in 1962 and it was at that point when he started and ran Jake's Electric for over 20 years in the Orange Park area. He was a Master Electrician and home Contractor and real estate investor. Jake received a 50 Year Masonic Service Award and was a member of the Orange Park Presbyterian Church. Over the years Jake quietly supported friends, the people of the community and especially family members with a generous and caring spirit. He loved to fish in the intercostal waterway and spent many hours in his shop making decorations and wood items with his wife Ruth. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Orange Park Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 950 Park Ave. Orange Park, Fl. 32073. The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 13, from 5 to 7 PM at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL, 32073. Graveside service, with Military and Masonic honors will be held Saturday, Nov. 14 in Magnolia Cemetery, at 11 AM, with Tim Roberts officiating.
